History of The Olson Group

Olson and Associates Insurers, Inc. was founded in 1980 by Jim Olson. Mr. Olson had a background in the surety business and he specialized in writing insurance and bonds for contractors across the state of South Dakota

As business grew, so did our staff and the scope of our operations. Between 1980 and 1998 Olson and Associates outgrew several locations. In 1998, the agency moved to our current location at 5900 S. Doral Avenue. While the agency continues to provide coverage for a large number of contractors our customer base has diversified over the years. The agency is the endorsed insurance carrier for two national fast food chains and provides coverage for hundreds of locations across the United States. In 2003 the agency purchased a local bank agency and with that greatly expanded our personal insurance writings. We are a preferred agent for Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and one of the largest writers of health insurance in the state of South Dakota.

In April of 2006 the agency name changed to The Olson Group. We currently have eighteen staff members. Each member of our staff is dedicated to providing our clients with the highest quality protection and competitive pricing. It is our goal to establish a partnership with each of our clients in order to provide solutions to their needs and help them attain their goals.
